Uppsala University's plan for gender mainstreaming is valid for three years, 2023-2025. It aims to contribute to fulfilling Uppsala University's goals and strategies through long-term and knowledge-based work to counteract bias in recruitment and assessment processes as well as sexual harassment and other forms of vulnerability.

The plan meets, together with the appendix "Horizon Europe", the requirements for a gender equality plan set by the European Commission in order for the University to be able to apply for and receive grants from the EU's research and innovation program Horizon Europe. The plan specifies clear process goals and concrete measures to achieve the goals. The appendix "Horizon Europe" shows which resources are available to support the business in implementing the plan, how the work is followed up and evaluated, and which educations in gender equality and equal conditions are offered to the business.

The plan also meets the requirements for gender mainstreaming in 2022 appropriation directions for higher education institutions according to which the institutions must identify gender equality issues within core activities, which they can help solve.
